UNBC – Wood Innovations Research Laboratory
Client: Federal-Provincial Investment & City of Prince George
Mechanical Engineer: Stantec
UNBC’s Wood Innovation Research Laboratory started construction in spring of 2017. The building of 13,000 square feet is designed to meet Passive House Standards. The facility is to provide students, members and researches in integrated wood design program with the ability to build and test large scale wood structures using engineered wood products. HVAC Systems is proud to be part of this as the project will be designed to achieve Passive House Standards.
A key part of HVAC System’s design was the use of Passive House ERV Units – Swegon GOLD Series. Our ERVs will operate at -32.8°F (-36°C) during winter mode while maintaining setpoint temperature in the space with 86.0% temperature efficiency. These units provided the project with: – Smallest Footprint – Lowest Operating Cost – Improved Occupant Comfort – Inter-Operability – Certified Passive House Component
